Abstract on Greek Theater and the Festival Of Dionysus

Ancient Greek theater began around 550 BC and 220 BC. The most well known cities in Greece all had open air theaters for performances, that tend to look a bit different than the performances that we see today. The theater in itself is a form of folklore, however additionally regular citizens could participate in the festival of Dionysus four times a year where they could feel liberated, drink, celebrate the god Dionysus and watch theater. Within the practice of theater and the festival of Dionysus there are many forms of rituals and performances.
